The full-size home court hoop

The MegaSlam 72 is the full-size setup: a regulation 72-inch tempered glass backboard on an in-ground steel pole, with the same directional-flex rim you would find on a club court. It is built to be played hard, and to hold that quality through years of it.

A backboard that plays like the gym

The 72 runs a regulation 72 by 42-inch tempered glass backboard. Glass is what serious players want, because the ball comes off it the same way every time and it stays clear instead of hazing over like acrylic. The steel frame holds it rigid and square, so a hard bank shot rebounds true even when the game gets physical.

A rim built to take a dunk

The 180-degree Pro Flex rim is fitted as standard. It only gives under downward load, so it takes a full dunk without wrenching the backboard or the arms, then springs back level for the next shot. You get the give of a proper breakaway rim without the loose, rattly feel of a cheap one.

Anchored in concrete, so it stays put

The 72 anchors to a concrete footing rather than sitting on a weighted base, so there is nothing to shift or tip. Once the anchor kit is cast in and the concrete has cured, the pole’s base plate bolts down onto it and the whole structure holds firm. No sway on a hard drive, and no wobble at the backboard when someone finishes over the top.

Made to live outside

This is outdoor equipment, and it is finished to stay out. The steel is galvanised and powder-coated, the fixings shrug off the weather and the materials hold their colour under UV. Leave it standing through sun, rain and frost. There is no cover to fit and nothing to take down for winter.

Installation

The 72 bolts down onto a concrete foundation, so the groundwork is what makes it last: the anchor kit’s four J-bolts are cast into the footing, and the pole’s base plate bolts to them once the concrete has cured. Read our basketball hoop installation guide before you start and get the base right first. Most people either self-install with a few helpers for the lift, or bring in a local groundworks contractor for the footing and anchor kit and finish the assembly themselves.

Shipping and delivery

MegaSlam systems are heavy freight, so delivery takes a little planning. Your 72 arrives palletised on a kerbside freight service, packed to protect the finish in transit.

Clear kerbside access for the lorry, and line up three or four adults (or machinery) to move the pallet to where it is going. Do not book your concrete work for the same day. The carrier calls ahead to arrange a window. Delivery is kerbside only and does not include installation, and someone needs to be there to receive and check the shipment.
