Futsal

Garden pitches for two a side, up to the FIFA international court.

Futsal pitches: the one sport a hard floor improves

Futsal is the one sport here where a hard modular floor is not a compromise on grass. It is the correct surface. The ball is smaller than a football and deliberately low-bounce, and that only works on a floor that is hard, true and consistent.

Grip matters as much as trueness. Futsal is played in flat-soled shoes with constant stopping and turning, so the surface has to release the foot predictably: too much grip and knees take it, too little and nobody can turn.

It also scales down better than almost anything else in the range, because a small pitch still gives a real game. Two against two in a yard is worthwhile practice. The garden pitches above keep their markings scaled to the pitch, so a small one stays readable.

The FIFA sizes carry FIFA’s own markings, and the goal area is drawn as two quarter-circles joined across, which is why a futsal pitch is not a five-a-side pitch with different lines. Every pitch uses the Dynamic Pro II tile, and the futsal court dimensions guide has every marking.

What size is a futsal pitch?

There is a range, not one size. FIFA sets a minimum and a maximum, and international matches are played at the top of it. Our FIFA range covers the smallest FIFA pitch, a club pitch and the international court. The futsal court dimensions guide lists every figure and marking.

Can I have a futsal pitch in my garden?

Yes. Futsal scales down better than most sports, because a small pitch still gives a real game. The garden pitches start with a yard-sized pitch for one-on-one and two-a-side, and go up to a pitch close to half a futsal pitch. The markings are scaled to the pitch so they stay in proportion.

Are the markings regulation?

On the FIFA sizes, yes: 6 m penalty areas, a 3 m centre circle, penalty marks at 6 m and 10 m and 3 m goals, whatever the pitch size. On the garden pitches the same markings are scaled down to fit. Open any pitch in the 3D designer to see the markings before you order.

What is the difference between futsal and five-a-side?

Futsal is the FIFA game: a hard court, touchlines, a low-bounce ball and fixed markings. Five-a-side is the informal small-sided game, with no fixed pitch size. Our five-a-side range covers those pitches.

Does futsal need a particular surface?

It needs a hard, flat, true surface, because the game is built on close control and quick passing along the floor. Every pitch here uses the Dynamic Pro II tile, which is slip-resistant and free-draining and can be laid indoors or out.
