Barn court

Agricultural barns and steel-frame outbuildings are the most underused indoor sports space there is. They are tall, they are dry, and they are already standing — which means no base to lay and nothing that cares about frost. At 9.14 m deep this court carries the full regulation three-point arc with its apex inside the court. Not a scaled one. It is narrow, so the arc runs off at the sidelines instead of curling back into corners — that is how a court this width is supposed to look, and it is the honest alternative to shrinking the radius until it fits. There is a 30 cm tiled margin between the lines and the wall on three sides, and 0.91 m behind the baseline, where the hoop stands clear of the wall with room to turn its height crank. That is deliberate. You need somewhere to land. Five metres of clear height covers everything except a genuinely high shot from the top of the arc; the figure we recommend for unrestricted basketball is 6.1 m. If your barn has it, take it.
